Forget the Past: Book 1 - Fear of the Past Trilogy by Claude Nougat
Tony Bellomo, a 17 year old computer genius, awakes one day suffering from burnout and feeling like an old man. He decides to go to Sicily in search of his heritage. While wandering the streets of Sicily after a disappointing visit to the museum that was once his family’s palace the Circolo di Conversazione attracts his attention. His curiosity gets the best of him and upon entering the door slams shut and he finds himself locked in. Once inside Tony comes face-to-face with his ancestors, going back 900 years, who spend their time watching plays of their lives as they await Judgment Day. It is during one of these plays that Tony discovers that he has more in common with an Englishman than he does with his own father. He finds himself hopelessly infatuated with the Duchess of Floridia, as he bears an uncanny resemblance to her secret lover of long ago. Can he take her back into his world so that they can be together? Is love even possible with a woman who has been dead for 200 years?
The author’s ability to accurately describe the clothing worn by the society of the times was impressive.
I’ve never read anything quite like this before. I very much enjoyed it and look forward to finding out what happens next.
